Tell us a little bit about yourself! What is your background?
“Surprisingly I have an accounting degree and spent a few years working in luxury retail at Saks Fifth Avenue. While those both seem quite unrelated to what I do now, both of those experiences helped to shape my business and my design work.
The accounting knowledge is certainly helpful in running any business and I also learned about luxury customer service in my time at Saks, which has proven to be invaluable in my current business. I began as a calligrapher and slowly transitioned into stationery design.”
What do you do best? What is your expertise?
“That is a difficult question to answer for yourself, but I would say that my expertise is in my level of service; my client communication and how I take care of things for not only my clients, but also for the vendors with whom I work.
Design wise, I would say that I have gotten fairly good at simple, restrained design that still feels luxurious with the papers and colors that I use.”

What has been your biggest struggle or challenge to date? And how did you overcome it?
“…As far as a challenge that I have overcome, as a naturally more timid person, I would say that it has been gaining confidence and learning how to present that confidence to my clients, and learning not to let myself be taken advantage of.
There can be a fine line between the high-end customer service and giving your clients what they are asking for while still maintaining your expertise and not being intimidated into giving more than the agreed upon scope of the project.
I found that the more that I learned about stationery design and production, the more confident I felt in my client consultations and of course, some things just take time and the more you do it and gain experience, the more comfortable you will become.”
What is the hardest part about running your own business?
“The most challenging thing that I am facing currently is balancing my work with motherhood.
As my daughter has grown, the challenges look different, but I do struggle with wanting to be fully present with my daughter during these sweet (and challenging!) years while at the same time still having dreams and goals for my business that have to be put aside or slowed down for a season.
I am grateful for the struggle though because it helps me learn to lean on God more fully and to be thankful for the blessings that I do have.”
- What is your best stationery tip or trick? I use glue sticks quite often – the simple kind that you can get at the grocery store! They work well and are easy to use, but I think that many people would be surprised that I use them
- Favorite sealing wax color? Clay or Ginger
- Where do you go for inspiration? A shady road or garden with lots of trees
